How Profitable Is On-Site Air Separation Plant?

From medical to metallurgy, industries engaged with manufacturing & producing products require bulk gases imperative to their whole operation. To achieve a certain goal, everything needs to be on track to prevent risk of accidents or faulty operation. That’s when an Air Separation Plant come into the play.

Industries either purchase gases in bulk from other industries or produce gases on-site by themselves. According to several evidences & proven facts, it is being said that on-site production of gases offers multiple benefits, such as consistent purity delivery, lower operating costs, high efficiency & reliability.

As Air Separation Plant becomes an increasingly reliable fixture to be installed in various different types of industries, you may be wondering about how the plant functions, what are the methods utilized to generate different kinds of gas, & what does it offers to the users. In this 3-minute-read blog, you may find untold truth about this plant.

Working Principle of Air Separation Plant

An Air Separation Plant uses fractional distillation method to separate the ambient mixture into its components. It uses distillation process to separate the mixture by heating them to a temperature at which one or multiple parts of mixture will vaporize. This plant separates atmospheric air into its primary component parts, merely oxygen (O2) & nitrogen (N), & sometimes other gases also like argon, neon, xenon & krypton.

This plant uses either of the two methods i.e., cryogenic distillation process & non-cryogenic distillation process, to separate pure gases from air. Different high purity gases can be separated from the atmospheric air by liquification & distillation via cryogenic method. But, only one high purity gas, like oxygen & nitrogen, can be separated from air via non-cryogenic distillation method.

Non-cryogenic processes include two best technologies i.e.,

    • Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA): It utilizes the fact that under high pressure, different kinds of gases tend to be attracted to absorbents. Typical absorbents are Typical adsorbents are activated carbon, zeolite, silica gel, alumina, & resin. To produce oxygen or nitrogen, it takes in ambient air, compresses & filters the air. The compressed air passes through the chamber containing an adsorbent bed which attracts all gas molecules, leaving only one gas (for instance, oxygen) to flow further. This one cycle produces 98% pure oxygen gas, while the second cycle can produce 99.9999% pure oxygen gas.

    • Vacuum Swing Adsorption (VSA): It separates certain gases from the gaseous mixture at near-ambient pressure while also apply a vacuum to the purge gas. However, PSA is the most recognized & renowned method of all.

Vast Applications

An Air Separation Plant is used in numbers of applications because of its offered enormous benefits at low operating cost. Such industrial applications include medical, metal production, waste management, pharmaceutical, fish farming, oil & petroleum, chemical & petrochemical, metallurgy, electronic, water treatment & several others.

Benefits & Features

The worth of a product is evaluated by its properties & offered range of advantages. Such advantages of an Air Separation Plant include:

    • Energy efficient: Manufactured utilizing cutting-edge technology, this plant consumes less electricity than conventional methods.

    • Easy installation: The installation process requires less human energy. It utilizes less space.

    • Automatic control: The plant functions automatically via PLC (programmable logic controller) which ensure zero human error & no technical faults.

    • Cost-effective: The plant is supplied at comparatively low price & consume less power.

    • Fast production rate: Due to the incorporation of PLC, the plant functions quickly.

    • Enhanced failure safety: This modern plant comes equipped with high-level safety features.

An Air Separation Plant is constructed using high-quality materials, like stainless steel & carbon steel, & has an excellent surface coating like hot-dipped galvanized, powder coating or paint coating, which ensure resistance against rusting, corrosion, low-to-high temperature variations, ultraviolet (UV) chemical, & other negative impacts. This surface coating also aids in increasing the plant’s lifespan.

When you’re clear that on-site Air Separation Plant is highly efficient & provide multiple benefits, as well as, cause no harm to the planet, plan to visit Tradeindia.com to find a verified list of Air Separation Plant manufacturers, supplies & dealers for buying in India at favourable prices.
