Stainless Steel Pipe Nipples: All-In-One Information

What differentiates humans from plants is that beings have brain & intelligence, while plants only have intelligence. Both evolve, but humans utilize their brain to achieve a greater stage in materialistic world. Feed your brain with latest information about Stainless Steel Pipe Nipples to grow your business to next level.

At Tradeindia, check out the list of India’s best manufacturers of Stainless Steel Pipe Nipples. These products are produced utilizing cutting-edge technology to meet all national & international quality standards & serve all needs of each industry.

Introduction

Stainless Steel Pipe Nipples are short pipe fittings used for connecting two other fittings. This type of fitting consists of a short piece of pipe & usually supplied with a male pipe thread at both ends.

Stainless steel is the most common used material for manufacturing pipe nipples as it can handle various working fluid flow, including chemicals, oil, air & water.

The difference between 304 & 316 grades is in their composition & properties. 304 SS grade consists of 18% chromium & 8% nickel, whereas 316 SS grade contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel & min. 2% molybdenum which makes it more corrosion & chloride resistant & durable.

Types of Stainless Steel Pipe Nipples

Based on different grades of stainless steel: ASTM / ASME A/SA 182 – F 304, 304L, 304H, 309S, 309H, 310S, 310H, 316, 316TI, 316H, 316L, 316LN, 317, 317L, 321, 321H, 347, 347H, 904L & several other grades.

Features & Benefits

  • Pressure class: 3000 LBS, 6000 LBS, 9000 LBS
  • Durable: SS pipe nipples are highly durable due to their fine & smooth surface finish
  • Impact resistance: It is resistant to intergranular corrosion, crevice, pitting & corrosion cracking.
  • Good strength: It is considered to be the strongest metal to withstand heavy weight loads.
  • Flexible: Weldable, machinable & formable

The surface of SS pipe nipples is treated, such as epoxy, FPE coating, hot-dipped galvanized, sand blasting, soldering, threading, electro polish etc., that ensure the impact resistance & increase their durability.

Specifications

Its types include socket weld, screwed weld, hexagon nipples, swaged nipples, round nipples, standard nipples, extra-heavy nipples, etc. It is available in various non-customized & customized sizes. Its length ranges from 1/8" to 12".

Features & Specifications

Also known as Chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy, this material features favourable properties, such as corrosion oxidation resistance, high ductility, less carbide precipitation, excellent weldability, forming, spinning & drawing.

Nonetheless, it has excellent resistance to an extensive range of atmospheric conditions & corrosive media. It is resistance to crevice, pitting & stress corrosion cracking. It is subjected to surface treatment, like 2B, 2D, BA, NO.1, NO.4, NO.8, 8K, mirror, checkered, embossed, hair line, & sand blasting, to increase its mechanical properties, impact resistance & durability.

Types of 304 Stainless Steel Plate

Although all possess same chromium-nickel content & same corrosion resistance, weldability & fabrication, the main difference between 304, 304L & 304H Stainless Steel Plate is the carbon content.

304H has 0.04–0.10% ((highest) carbon content, 304L has 0.03% (lowest) carbon content & 304 has 0.08% carbon content. The more the carbon content, the more it is susceptible to corrosive attack & rusting. Therefore, 304 is not useful for corrosive applications & thus 304L is preferred.  Higher carbon content stainless steel, like 304H, is useful for higher temperature & strength applications.

Vast Area of Applications

304 Stainless Steel Plate is extensively used in industrial & household applications such as food processing equipment, food handling equipment, refrigerators, tabletops, sinks, chemical containers, tanks, high-pressure vessels, machinery parts, automobile etc.
