Everything About Blower: Functions, Types, Benefits

People new to industries take time to comprehend the differences between a Blower and a Fan. While everyone is busy launching or marketing innovating Blower Fans, we will provide you with factual data on Blower and its versatile uses, types, features, and benefits.

Brief introduction on Blower’s Working Principle and Applications

A blower is a fan-type apparatus designed to provide high-pressure “blow-off” (airflow) that is focused. It cycles airflow for cooling, heating, exhausting, sucking, and drying. While some of its types are used as industrial blowers others are used as commercial and residential blowers.

A blower is a mechanical device which consists of an impeller, rotating blades, and an electric motor. Like a fan, the blower uses its rotating blades to take air/gas inside the spinning impeller. The impeller’s motion and blade’s kinetic energy help to increase the pressure and velocity of the air at the outlet. The inlet pressure is low and outlet pressure is high.

The types of blowers, industrial or domestic, vary on the basis of size, body design, blade design, power capacity and application. Types of the basis of airflow direction are: Centrifugal blower and positive-displacement blower.

Types on the basis of blade’s designs are:

Forward-curved blades

Backward-curved blades

Radial

Applications: Industrial Blowers, Equipment Blowers

To understand in the simplest way, let’s take an example of your hair dryer. It is a type of blower that is used for drying purpose. A leaf blower, for instance, is used to provide powerful airflow to clear the garden off leaves. Here, we found out two types, one for drying and another for leaf blowing.

In factories like manufacturing industries, their processes generate lots of dangerous fumes and hazardous chemicals that are needed to be expelled outdoors to maintain indoor air quality. A suction blower is used to take in all air impurities and convey it to a storage bag. It is also used for effective cleaning and dusting in unreachable areas like windows edges and CPU cabinets.

There are cooling blowers designed for cooling industrial equipment under operation. For ex, it is mounted to heatsink to dissipate heat from laptop or PC; it is used as HVAC component.

Difference Between Blower v/s Fan

Both are used for circulating air but their purpose differentiates them. A fan uses its blades to move a large volume of air to all corners of a space (for ex, a ceiling fan), while a blower consists of a fan housing using which it takes in air and directs it to a specific area or single-point location ( for ex, a heat sink in electronic device).

A blower focuses outgoing air at a specific direction to provide powerful and focused airflow for the purpose of heating, drying, cooling, or exhausting. A fan uses less pressure to produce a large volume of airflow, while a blower uses high pressure to produce a focused amount of airflow.

The fan’s pressure ratio is 1:1 whereas the blower’s pressure ration is from 1:1 to 1:2. The former can be categorized as axial flow fans, centrifugal fans, and cross-flow fans; and the latter can be categorized as centrifugal blowers and positive-displacement blowers.

Purchasing Criteria Of Blower

When it comes to buying Blower in bulk, you need to consider a few important factors such as:

For small tasks, choose a battery-operated blower which is small in size and light in weight.

Choose electrical blowers for covering a large area.

Make sure the device does not produce any mechanical sound when operated.

Determine blower’s energy efficiency

Considering operational cost and maintenance duration

In order to yield high business profit, get accurate data on blowers and its types to understand which one fits your client’s application. Instantly find contact details of blower manufacturers, suppliers and dealers of Blower for cracking a deal at current online market prices in India.
