How Gas Safety Valve Save Your Life?

Functioning automatically, the spring-type safety valve consists of a spring attached to the valve. When the pressure is normalized, spring return back to its stable position which causes the valve to close. 

Difference between Gas Safety Valve and Pressure Relief Valve

Sometimes, the term Gas Safety Valve is interchangeably used with pressure relief valve. While, both terms are used in relation to releasing excessive pressure from a pressurized system, there lies a slight difference between them. A relief valve functions to prevent any system failure and protect the equipment from overpressurized issues, whereas a safety valve is last resort valve designed to protect people and property. 

In more accurate way, safety valves actuate immediately and fully to avoid overpressurized conditions that might cause a tragic mishappening, rather than to control the pressure of a system (what relief valve actually does). The set point of former is set at 3% above the actual working pressure limit, whereas the set point of the latter is set at 10% above the working pressure limit.
