Did you know camels can drink 30 to 50 gallons of water in just 3 to 10 minutes that helps them to live in too hot, arid condition areas (for example Rajasthan and other deserted areas) without drinking water for a weak or more? But, can you survive without water for more than one or two days? If I talk about myself, I usually drink water post every half to one hour, except at nights because that’s the time when our conscious fall asleep.
Well, I think I made my point clear regarding the importance of water for a living being. Though the earth’s surface is covered with 71% of water, the fresh water is about only 2.5%. What an inappropriate stat! These figures explain much better about the water usage, importance and shortage. Though more than half of the earth consists of water, there are too many rural places and states all over the world facing water scarcity.
To prevent such water scarcity, we have encountered with various measures invented generation by generation. Some of which are water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, water quality testing instruments and a Horizontal Float Valve. This type of valve is known for controlling the flow of water to prevent at smaller and larger scale.
Design and Working Principle
A Horizontal Float Valve, also known as ballcock, is a lightweight, flexible and compact device that is manufactured to control level and flow in a fluid supply such as fluid storage tank or a reservoir. Besides fluid level detection and control, it also functions to prevent any backflow or overflow. This valve can be made of different materials, including stainless steel, gunmetal, cast iron, plastic, rubber, cast steel, or carbon steel etc. All these are high-grade materials which aid in float valve’s longevity and high performance.
This valve is connected to a ball-shaped, lightweight and sealed float horizontally to the pilot arm (a lever). The float detects the rise or fall in the fluid level inside the storage tank, and opens or closes the valve depending on the detected fluid level. The most common type of this valve can be seen in your residential water tank. The float valve is mounted near the top of your water tank.
In simple words, the Horizontal Float Valve responds to the fluid level in the storage vessel. As fluid level rises to the predetermined level, the float also rises with it simultaneous that is attached to the valve horizontally through a lever. This rising motion of the float prompts the valve to close automatically in order to stop the water supply. And, when the fluid level drops, the float also begins to descend which again force the valve to open to allow water supply into the vessel to fill up it.
Wide-Range Applications
The Horizontal Float Valve is extensively used in the widest range of applications, including underground fluid storage tank, aboveground fluid storage tank, toilet tanks, industrial water and gasoline tanks, commercial water tanks, residential or domestic water tank etc. Moreover, it also finds its usage in plumbing, water treatment plants, and HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) applications.
This special-designed Horizontal Float Valve functions automatically by opening or closing itself, responding by refilling the vessel or prevent the overflow, respectively. This mechanism makes this valve highly useful, efficient and reliable mean to avoid water spillage or wastage, contributing to replenish water scarcity and promote healthy, safe environment.
Counts advantages on Horizontal Float Valve
Horizontal Float Valve is compact, lightweight, yet has high strength with rigid and strong body. Made up of different materials, it features high-grade benefits such as high strength, robust construction, resistance to rust, corrosion, wear and tear, ductility, machinability and hardness. Moreover, these float valves have longer serving due to the excellent choice of material including fine and smooth surface treatment to increase its functionability and durability. It can function like a new one even after scores of cycles.
So, do not ignore water spilling out of your water tank at any cost because it is possible that someone out there is trying to survive without water and food. Preserve this gift of nature and do whatever is in your hand to make this earth green and people healthy.
