304 Stainless Steel Plate: About & Fact

What makes a person differ from others? You might all say it’s a person’s thinking process, functioning, behaviour & other traits. Similarly, in industrial line, there’s huge difference between 304L, 304H & 304 Stainless Steel Plate.

Before jumping into this concern, there’s a lot to know about 304 Stainless Steel Plate that is indeed for you to understand to conclude what’s best for you & how can you use its properties to increase productivity & mark a standard.

"For interested viewers, find complete info. of 304 Stainless Steel Manufacturers in India & the latest price list."

This is the most common stainless steel used widely in most of the applications, ranging from household to industrial equipment. It is an austenitic stainless steel which is non-magnetic & less thermally & electrically conductive than Carbon Steel.

Features & Specifications

Also known as Chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy, this material features favourable properties, such as corrosion oxidation resistance, high ductility, less carbide precipitation, excellent weldability, forming, spinning & drawing.

Nonetheless, it has excellent resistance to an extensive range of atmospheric conditions & corrosive media. It is resistance to crevice, pitting & stress corrosion cracking. It is subjected to surface treatment, like 2B, 2D, BA, NO.1, NO.4, NO.8, 8K, mirror, checkered, embossed, hair line, & sand blasting, to increase its mechanical properties, impact resistance & durability.

Types of 304 Stainless Steel Plate

Although all possess same chromium-nickel content & same corrosion resistance, weldability & fabrication, the main difference between 304, 304L & 304H Stainless Steel Plate is the carbon content.

304H has 0.04–0.10% ((highest) carbon content, 304L has 0.03% (lowest) carbon content & 304 has 0.08% carbon content. The more the carbon content, the more it is susceptible to corrosive attack & rusting. Therefore, 304 is not useful for corrosive applications & thus 304L is preferred.  Higher carbon content stainless steel, like 304H, is useful for higher temperature & strength applications.

Vast Area of Applications

304 Stainless Steel Plate is extensively used in industrial & household applications such as food processing equipment, food handling equipment, refrigerators, tabletops, sinks, chemical containers, tanks, high-pressure vessels, machinery parts, automobile etc.
