Though, the world always felt thwarted by destruction on a catastrophic scale like World War I or II, or the rage of pandemic spread like SARS or COVID-19, the supply chains of production lines never ceased to produce the demanded products and instruments. This defines it is us people who have been made capable for diminishing such dreadful situations.
Once again surviving in this unfavourable conditions amid Coronavirus, we are seeking to cling to health life styles and serenity. And, to make it easier for us, manufacturers of protective equipment are making all their efforts. Some of these personal protective equipment (PPE) are made of high-quality Non Woven Fabric.
Does quality matter to you? For me, yes, quality is what defines the product the most. In this short 3-minute blog, I am going to put forth the main points, facts, and clear the misconception too which surrounds Non Woven Fabrics.
Firstly, it ain’t no difficult to understand how they are made. They are made from short and long fibers entangled in crisscross pattern, parallel or random pattern which is bonded together by mechanical, chemical, heat or solvent treatment. The reason behind its name “nonwoven” depicts that they are neither woven nor knitted.
Depending on end product demands, the manufacturers of non woven fabrics produce products in accordance with the international and national standards. Sometimes, the fabric is laminated to provide extra strength, smoothness and UV-resistant. However, these fabrics are offered in various lengths, widths, thicknesses, prints and colours. Polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are the two most common non woven fabrics used.
Acquiring complete shreds of information makes it easier for people to distinguish between two different products of same purpose. Therefore, I won’t hesitate to highlight some of the tremendous and enticing benefits of non woven fabric.
For instance, it offers excellent breath ability, absorbency, resilience, softness, liquid repellence, high strength, wash ability, flame retardancy, filtration, thermal insulation, cushioning, stretch and acoustic insulation. And, the most valuable characteristic are sterility and bacterial barrier. All these properties are often unified to create fabrics best suited for specific applications.
This is the reason why it is widely and globally used to manufacturer isolation gowns, surgical masks, PPE, surgical gowns and gloves, caps, scrub suits, medical packaging, bath wipes, wound dressings etc. Not only in medical field, it has its foot in other applications, including fertilizer and agriculture industry, geotextile, packaging industry etc.
Non Woven Fabric Is Not Plastic
With so much of veracity and truthfulness in this world, myths have always paved their ways to puzzle people with. There are numbers of misconceptions which surround us and sometimes, also contradicts with the truth.
In this 1-minute reading, I would make sure to unfold the myth surrounding Non Woven Fabric. Many time, I came across the biggest misconception that non woven is considered as plastic just because their basic raw material i.e., PP (polypropylene) – same for both plastic and non woven. But, the fact is the difference lies in the manufacturing process and characteristics of the end product produced.
Though made of PP, it is pertinent to put forth characteristics of Non Woven Fabrics such as 100% biodegradable, recyclable and non-toxic which makes it leave no Ecological Footprints, contributing to waste reduction and reusability. These properties make them pollution and eco-free. These properties are completely different than of plastics.
Making a choice is your call, all I can do as my part is to provide you sufficient information, facts and clear some myths to make it easier for you to comprehend the best version. Make a wise choice and lead the world towards greenery and yourself to serenity.
