Gypsum Plaster is known as plaster of paris .It is produced by heating it around at 300F .
In chemical Equation form:- CaSO4·2H2O + heat → CaSO4·0.5H2O + 1.5H2O (released as steam). It means when 2 molecules of water combined with calcium sulphate and heat is supplied to it then Gypsum Plaster is formed.
When Water is added in dry plaster powder it re forms into gypsum and causing the material to harden or "set" so that it become useful for casting and construction.
There are different types of Gypsum are available all are basically composed of Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate. And the another important term used for it is stucco .
Uses of Gypsum Plaster
Gypsum Plaster is used in the Manufacturing of wall, board, cement, soil conditioning, a hardening retarder in portland cement.types of gypsum known as "satin spar" and "alabaster" are used to make the different varities of ornamental purposes.
Gypsum plaster is used to simulate the appearance of surfaces of wood, stone, or metal, or on movies and theatrical sets. Nowadays, theatrical plasterers often use to expand polystyrene, although the work done by both remain same.
Plaster of Paris can be used to saturate the gauze bandages that are used for making a sculpting material called plaster bandages. We can use it in similar way to clay, because it can be easily converted into shapes when wet,and when it settle down it convert into a resilient and lightweight structure.

Gypsum Plaster sometimes also used to make classic plaster orthopedic casts to protect limbs with broken bones, the artistic use having been partly inspired by the medical use. Set Modroc is used as composite material in early periods.
Benefits Of Gypsum Plaster FOR BUILDERS & DEVELOPERS:
1. Bio - degradable material
2. It gives Shrinkage, crack free surfaces and smooth finish to the surface.
3. High productivity – faster work so it result into time save.
4. Performance – provides Durability and light weight to the material
5. Cleaner sites - direct application bagged product so it does not require water curing for end
Advantages of One Coat Gypsum Plaster
1. Direct Application: If we have to apply One coat we can directly apply it on brick, block & concrete walls
2. No healing of water is required
3. It gives Free of shrinkage cracks and better resistance to water
4. Easy to apply: We can use it by simple mixing with water.
5. Non-combustible: Superior heat and sound insulation properties due to special additives
